01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Packed between crisp, golden slices of toast, thick-cut duck loin, crunchy Kujo scallions, and Tanba shimeji mushrooms make up the Kamo-Negi Sandwich, the signature creation at GOOD TIME COFFEE. The element pulling it all together is a house-made white miso sauce with a mellow, savory depth that preserves the juicy richness of the fillings while showcasing classic Kyoto flavors in a satisfying hot sandwich. The light-meal selection also includes a rolled egg sandwich topped with tangy sanbaizu jelly using dashimaki omelet from a traditional restaurant, seasonal fruit custard toasted sandwiches, and toasts featuring Uji matcha, offering plenty of variety for breakfast or brunch.
Single-Origin Drips and Distinctive Cafe Drinks
Coffee is another highlight, with pour-overs accompanied by clear tasting notes when ordering. Options span a range of roasts and flavor profiles, from a bright Ethiopian coffee with lively acidity and floral aromas to a well-balanced Brazilian bean, or a French-roast East Timor bringing out bold bitterness and body. Caffe lattes made with silky milk can be switched to oat milk on request, and the menu features unique specialty drinks such as ginger syrup lattes and espresso ginger ales.
Machiya Serenity and Courtyard Views
Set inside a renovated traditional machiya in a quiet Shimogyo Ward residential neighborhood, the space retains the character of its heritage wooden pillars and exposed beams while offering clean, contemporary comfort. Guests order and pay at the counter upon entering, then choose from table seating or engawa veranda spots overlooking a small inner courtyard garden. Open daily from 9:00 to 17:00, the cafe makes a peaceful retreat for reading solo or enjoying freshly brewed coffee and hot sandwiches between neighborhood walks.
